Prayer for December 29, 2020: Please pray with me. Holy One, we are exposed to many different beliefs. And we are challenged by loyalties that take us in different directions. Give us courage to live into your way – the way that you have taught for centuries. Give us what we need to be a voice that proclaims your word. Empower us to stand up and speak justice for your people. American Civil Religion is not the same as Christianity, as much as it tries to pretend to be. The values are not the same. The goals are not the same. The methods are not the same. Give courage to your followers to follow the way of Jesus, regardless of what the society demands. Amen.
