Prayer for October 27, 2020

Prayer for October 27, 2020: Please pray with me. God of mercy, why do we have such a difficult time with this title of yours? Why do we have a difficult time receiving and giving mercy? Why are we inclined to harshness and judgement? Why are we more concerned with order rather than mercy? Do we think everything will go to chaos? Mercy doesn’t equal chaos though. Why do we think in dualistic thinking? How limiting is that? Today we pray that mercy may flow – especially to outcasts, those experiencing poverty, people who are judged in society. We pray that those who have responsibility with our laws and with order may be merciful in the application of law, recognizing that law doesn’t exist for its own existence, but rather that laws and order exist for the wellbeing of people. Amen.
