Prayer for September 24, 2020: Please pray with me. Blessed are you, Lord our God, King of the Universe, for you made all things and sustain all things. Nothing can compare to you. No one can match you. The first sin was believing that we could be you, even replace you. Cure us of this narcissism. Wipe it away. Narcissism is the antithesis of what you are about, Lord. Everything narcissism touches is either destroyed or killed, while the things your touch thrive or are resurrected to new life. End narcissism, willful stubbornness, and hardness of hearts. End these destructive and deadly sins that plague us – our own lives, in our communities and families, and in our nation and world. Replace narcissism with self-giving love, care of others, welcoming of others, consideration of others. Cast out these sins. Forgive us when we toy with them and think we can use them for our own ends. Set us on the right path. Amen.
